Day 3 –A game that is underrated.
This is a tricky question. I don’t follow video game news enough to really know what’s underrated or overrated or just appropriately rated by how good or well known the game is. So instead I’m going to talk about a game I haven’t really seen a lot of chat about, and you’ll just have to bear with me if it’s not as obscure as I think it is.
I’m, of course, talking about Shadow Hearts 3. A classic JRPG, it’s not as popular as it’s predecessors but it’s also a stand-alone so you don’t actually have to play the other games to get into it. I still haven’t.
Shadow Hearts 3 is set in prohibition era New York and follows Johnny Garland, a sixteen year old boy detective who lost his family and his memories in a car crash three years prior. He’s soon swept up in a magical adventure that takes him all over the continent, banding him together with other misfits like the brazilian ninja, a talking cat who does Drunken Style Kung Fu and a mariachi with a guitar full of missiles (yes really). It’s whimsical and absolutely ridiculous most of the time but also really great? The story is… good? It stole my heart at least. I’m not going to say too much in case anyone actually wants to pick up this Playstation 2 game from 2005 (you should) but here’s the trailer nonetheless.
