When my mom was sixteen, she elected to not go to high school and instead moved to the south of Sweden to train race horses for Joakim Nätterqvist’s grandad (you guys have seen Arn, right? Right?) and ever since, there’s been a very special connection to horses in my family. I did horseback riding as a kid, classic at first and then a year of Western that was really great only I had to quit because of spinal surgery (another story for another time). Last year, we found out that there’s a race on Sweden’s National Day so of course we went to feel some patriotism but mostly to look at horses.
Here’s a few pics at the start boxes. I was going to take a video of the start of one of the races, but my phone ran out of memory. Alas! Happy Sweden Day!
